Chanell 't Zand experienced a hilarious wardrobe malfunction while skydiving in her home country of Suriname
"Skydiving tip: wear a sports bra," Chanell 't Zand captioned the TikTok video of the incident, which has garnered nearly 15 million views
't Zand tells PEOPLE that the TikTok comments "did NOT disappoint"
Chanell 't Zand learned an important lesson when skydiving for the first time.
The 26-year-old took the plunge at the Zorg en Hoop Airport in her home country of Suriname in South America in November 2025, not realizing that her wardrobe malfunction would result in a hilarious viral moment.
In a video shared to TikTok in April, 't Zand can be seen diving with clear blue skies in the background. When her instructor engaged the parachute, the holster pushed her breasts up towards her neck. Having a good sense of humor about the mishap, 't Zand uploaded the clip with the caption, "Skydiving tip: wear a sports bra."
Commenters quickly got in on the joke, helping the video get to nearly 15 million views.
"Why did they inflate too 😭😂," one wrote.
"You had your own airbags just incase 😩😩😩😩😩," said another.
A third shared, "Sorry I laughed😭😭😂😂😂😂."
't Zand tells PEOPLE that she didn't notice anything was out of the ordinary until her diving instructor, Bob Draijer, showed her the video after the fact.
"Even though part of me was excited ahead of the dive, I tried to shut off my emotions so I wouldn’t second-guess myself or get scared," she recalls. "My mind was completely blank—I wasn’t trying to think about anything at all."

She posted the video with an inkling that it might go viral. "I was actually looking forward to the TikTok community’s funny reactions—and they definitely did NOT disappoint," she says.
While 't Zand got a kick out of the jokes in the comments section, she also felt "truly honored to have made millions of people laugh."

"During difficult times in my own life, it wasn’t just God and my loved ones who helped me through—it was also silly TikTok videos like these that lifted my spirit," she says.
She continues, "Receiving so many heartfelt messages from people saying my video brightened their day means the world to me. It genuinely feels like I’ve been able to give something back to the TikTok community."

The dive was more than just a viral social media moment for 't Zand. As a producer for a TV station in Suriname, she was working on a series about the country's 50th Independence Day. One of the main spectacles every year on Nov. 25 (Suriname’s 50th independence anniversary) is the skydiving show.
"I contacted the head of the skydiving group Free2Fly Suriname, Poetie Doerga, for an interview, and he invited me to jump with them during their warm-up on Nov. 24," 't Zand recalls.
"This only happens once a year in my country—it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," she adds. "So of course I said yes, not realizing at the time how much this decision would impact my life."
