Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's legal battle cost the actress close to everything—including a high-profile friendship that had long been a fixture in her life. The friendship in question is with pop powerhouse Taylor Swift, who is also a godmother to her daughters, James, 11, Inez, 9, and Betty, 6.
After major conjecture over whether the pop star, 36, and the actress, 38, had called it quits on their friendship, Blake and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, were not present at Taylor's iconic Madison Square Garden nuptials, which confirmed that their friendship has officially ended.
Insiders also told Rob Shuter that the Gossip Girl star's VIP access has "noticeably shrunk." Though Blake still gets invited to the industry's biggest events, she doesn't quite receive the same treatment she once did as Taylor Swift's best friend. Now, sources close to the popstar have finally revealed what went on behind closed doors, causing Taylor to fully drop her once-solid friendship with Blake.

An insider told the Daily Mail that the pop phenomenon decided to end her friendship with Blake "a few months ago" after discussions with Travis Kelce, 36, who assured her that it "was the right thing to do."
Meanwhile, Taylor is distancing herself from Blake and Ryan's daughters, her godchildren.

"It was one of the toughest decisions she's ever had to make," a source close to Taylor said. "It was very emotional because she loves the girls. It hurt her heart, but she had no choice given the circumstances."
"There was never an agreement in writing about her being the girls' godmother," they added. "It was a verbal one between Taylor and Blake."

Despite only being a verbal agreement, Taylor was a loyal and committed godmother to Blake's daughters—regularly seeing them, hosting them at her $17 million Rhode Island mansion, mentioning them in her album Folklore, and also using James' baby voice at the beginning of her song Gorgeous.

The decision to step back has reportedly "hurt Taylor's heart."
"But she had no choice given the circumstances," the source added. "She wanted to make a clean and total break."
A second insider spilled, "Taylor's having the time of her life now that she is married, her family is great, her career is great and she's looking forward to the future."
"The only thing that is causing trouble in her life is Blake's kids and not having the relationship she would like to have with them as their godmother."
The source continued, "Right now, she doesn't feel it's healthy or realistic to maintain a close relationship with the children while having virtually no relationship with their parents. Taylor doesn't believe it's fair to anyone involved - especially the kids - to put them in the middle of such a strained situation."

The trouble began with the film It Ends With Us, when Blake became embroiled in a legal battle with the film's actor and director Justin Baldoni. Taylor was reportedly drawn into the situation after being subpoenaed in the case, though the subpoena was later withdrawn.
A source told Rob Shuter that Blake had hoped to be involved in Taylor's big MSG wedding despite the ongoing drama.
“She wanted to go. It feels bad to be excluded like that. She had sort of hoped that despite everything, their history was enough that they’d be included, but that’s not the way it went.”
