The Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants will renew their rivalry in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season. It will be the 129th meeting between these two NFC East franchises, with the Cowboys leading the all-time series, 78-48-2.
The Giants have won only twice against the Cowboys this decade, and they will try to turn that dismal record around under new head coach John Harbaugh. As Giants fans plead for more life to their 2026 campaign, they will tune in to this game while listening to NBC’s premier NFL broadcasting duo.
Who Are the Commentators for the Cowboys-Giants Game?
NBC Sunday Night Football’s broadcast tandem of Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth will add color to the stories before, during, and after this Cowboys-Giants showdown.
Tirico is NBC’s premier sports commentator. He joined NBC Sports in 2016 and is in his fifth season as the play-by-play commentator for Sunday Night Football. In addition to the NFL, the Syracuse University alumnus also does commentary for the NBA on NBC.
Tirico’s broadcasting excellence led to seven Sports Emmy Award victories. In May 2026, he won the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality Play-by-Play, making him the second sports broadcaster, after Bob Costas, to win as a studio host and as a play-by-play commentator.

Meanwhile, Collinsworth will join Tirico at the broadcast booth of MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Before becoming an NFL analyst, Collinsworth played eight seasons as a wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals. He earned three Pro Bowl selections and was named to the Second Team All-Pro three times throughout his career.

Collinsworth is in his 18th year as the analyst for Sunday Night Football. Over that span, he has covered six Super Bowls, including Super Bowl 60. He joined NBC Sports in 1990 and also worked on select college football broadcasts.

Like Tirico, Collinsworth has multiple Sports Emmy victories. He has nine Sports Emmys for Outstanding Event Analyst and 17 individual recognitions in total. In August 2023, the former Florida Gator was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame for his contributions to the sports television and media industry.
Joining Tirico and Collinsworth during the in-game coverage are sideline reporters Melissa Stark and Kaylee Hartung. Stark joined NBC Sports in 2022 and is in her fifth season on Sunday Night Football. Meanwhile, Hartung also worked on Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football coverage before joining NBC for Super Bowl 60 and the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
Finally, Terry McAulay will also be sharing his football wisdom as an on-air rules analyst. He was an NFL game official for 20 years and has been a referee in three Super Bowls.
This Sunday Night Football broadcasting crew will start covering the Cowboys-Giants Week 1 game on September 13 at 8:20 p.m. Eastern Time. NBC Sports will also have a pre-game show starting at 7 p.m. ET, hosted by Maria Taylor, Devin McCourty, Mike Florio, former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, and former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.
