Tracee Ellis Ross is shutting down pregnancy rumors.

The Black-ish actress, 53, recently sat down with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to talk about her upcoming Broadway debut in Every Brilliant Thing. During the conversation, Ross addressed the claims that she's pregnant and expecting her first child.

"I don't have social media on my phone right now, and I kept getting texts, and people were like, 'Congratulations.' I'm like, 'On the play? Thank you!' Well, apparently, it's swirling around, and it seems that people think I'm pregnant," she told the late-night host, 51. "Which is hilarious. I am not pregnant."

"No, and I don't know how you get the preggers," Ross added with a laugh. "Now, 'the pregnant' I think is different from just pregnant. I know how you get pregnant. But 'the pregnant' is a thing they make up online when it's obviously a slow news day."

Ross has spoken openly about not having her life be defined by meeting a partner and becoming a mom. Back in May 2021, the Girlfriends alum slammed societal pressure on the topic during an interview with Marie Clare. When asked if she ever dreamed of a life with a large family, Ross said, "Well, how could you not?"

"Our society spoon-feeds it to you," she said. "I used to put myself to sleep dreaming of my wedding."

"And I would still love all of that, but what am I going to do, just sit around waiting?" Ross continued. "Shut up. I've got so many things to do."

Ross made similar statements when she covered the May 2020 issue of Porter.

"I wish I had known there were other choices, not just about how I could be living, but how I could feel about the way my life was," Ross told the publication. "I was raised by society to dream of my wedding, but I wish I had been dreaming of my life."

The actress went on to share that there are "so many ways" to create happiness in life outside of motherhood and marriage.

"There are so many ways to curate happiness, find love and create a family, and we don't talk about them," she said. "It creates so much shame and judgment."

"People misinterpret being happily single as not wanting to be in a relationship. Of course, I want to be in a relationship, but what am I going to do? Spend all the time that I'm not [in one] moping around?" Ross argued. "No. I'm going to live my life to the fullest, and I'm going to be happy right here, where I am."
