Reform's deputy leader Richard Tice says the government wants to "retrospectively change rules" after his party received £72m in donations
This weekend, the party announced £36m donations from Christopher Harborne and Ben Delo, who are British and have lived in Thailand and Hong Kong respectively
The previous biggest single donation to a UK political party was £10m to the Conservatives from Lord John Sainsbury
The government was already seeking to change the law on donations to political parties from British expats, including a £100,000 cap backdated to 25 March
The House of Lords will debate changes to the law later today
Reform says the donations would still be legal, even if the law changes - and Tice tells the BBC the government is "scared" of competition
