The Princess of Wales has riffed on every permutation of the Wimbledon look in her 15 years as a royal, from zingy tennis ball yellow to crisp tennis whites. It’s a playful strategy that has made Catherine stand out to audiences in her role as patron of the Lawn Tennis Association, but it has also caused a ripple effect. The crowds in attendance so often now copy her approach, and enjoy getting dressed up in their take on Wimbledon whites or umpire chic, despite their being no official dress code at the event.
For the men’s singles final on Centre Court on Sunday, that influence was in full effect – see Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez and the myriad other A-listers in attendance, all dutifully doing a take on thematic dressing.
The Princess out-served them all. For her, it was a lawn-green draped dress by Emilia Wickstead that ensured she was unmissable as she arrived, accompanied by Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The bespoke “Tidus” design by Wickstead featured an elegant cape at the right shoulder – making the outfit look polished, but not overly fussy or too hot to wear in the heatwave.

On Saturday, too, the Princess plumped for an especially juicy theme, opting for a red peplum-waisted dress by Roland Mouret to watch the women’s singles final on Centre Court.
That £795 design is still available to buy on Mouret’s website. Most famous for his “Galaxy” dress, a body-conscious creation which was loved by celebrities from Victoria Beckham to Beyoncé, Mouret’s origami draped dress has those same sculptural sensibilities with a little more flair and tailoring.

The Princess’s choice of colour then reflected the strawberries which are synonymous with Wimbledon. Have you even been to SW19 if you haven’t enjoyed the strawberries and cream?
The thought that the Princess puts into her Wimbledon looks annually is a sign of her dedication and genuine love for the championships. Back in 2024 when she was having preventative chemotherapy, it was one of the few summer events that she refused to miss out on.
The Princess is truly a master at striking the balance between dressing “on theme” and being “in style”, and having fun, while appearing appropriate. It is this considerate and consistent approach that has made her one of the best-dressed royals of all time. The crowds at Wimbledon, but also the audience of millions beyond Centre Court who will be watching her appearance, can’t fail to notice the winning sartorial streak.
