When Hurricane Helene swept through the area in 2024 it collapsed the roof of the building housing The Ordinary Pub and a number of residential units. On May 1 the restaurant officially announced on social media that it would not be reopening.
“Today, we toast…you. And we toast us. And we toast all of the incredible times that we’ve had together,” said the Facebook post. “These last 18 months, we have steadily worked toward the singular goal of seeing you all again amongst the brick and amber, but it just isn’t meant to be.”
The Ordinary Pub first opened its doors on June 25, 2015, bringing casual dining and drinking to Broughton Street. The owners have told former patrons to look for them in their next adventure.
Pho 5Spices to open on Broughton Street
A new Vietnamese restaurant is bringing authentic flavors straight to the plate of Savannahians this spring. Pho 5Spices is set to have its soft opening on Tuesday, May 12 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pho 5Spices is located at 114 E. Broughton St. The menu features pho, bahn mi, vermicelli bowls and rice plates.
Big Bon Bodega recognized by the state
Popular local eatery Big Bon Bodega was honored as one of five 2026 Georgia Small Business ROCK STARS at the Georgia Economic Development Association Spring Conference in late April. Gov. Brian Kemp joined GEDA and the Georgia Department of Economic Development in Savannah to honor the five businesses.

Big Bon Bodega was originally founded in 2016 as a pop-up food truck and operates two-full service neighborhood eateries in Savannah and Pooler. Foxy Loxy launches soccer screenings
Foxy Loxy Cafe is launching regular screenings of soccer matches in the Foxy Loxy courtyard to meet the city’s surging demand for the sport, according to a press release, bringing the world's most popular sport to the heart of the Starland District.
“We’ve always tried to create a space that brings people together, and screening soccer matches in our courtyard feels like a natural extension of that vision,” said Owner Jen Jenkins. “We’re continuing to bring the European café culture to Savannah, where individuals can enjoy a great high-quality cup of coffee, food or wine, sharing moments over something as universal as the beautiful game—it’s a rhythm of life I’ve always loved.”

Matches will be broadcast throughout the week, but “Soccer Saturday” will see the most action. The Courtyard Bar, located in the E. Shaver Starland bookshop next door to Foxy Loxy’s courtyard at 1919 Bull Street, will serve as the hub for alcohol sales on these days.
The café will also screen every major match of the FIFA World Cup 2026, which kicks off on June 11. Foxy Loxy’s Bull Street location will broadcast regular-season coverage of matches from the English Premier League, Spain's La Liga, and the UEFA Champions League on a brand-new, large courtyard TV.
Chains & ThingsWawa
Wawa is now offering Snack & Go Tacos and new seasoned beef recipes at all 1,200+ Wawa stores for a limited time starting May 4 through Aug. 10, according to a press release. Tacos are available for order 24/7 while the new seasoned beef recipes are available beginning at 5 a.m. through 9 p.m. daily. The tacos are made with soft flour tortillas, and can be filled with seasoned beef, chicken, steak, black beans, topped with cheese, sauces and fresh toppings.
The beef will also be available in burritos, rice bowls, and quesadillas. Wawa has also launched new, limited time only Raspberry-flavored handcrafted beverages, available in fruit smoothies, lemonades, refreshers and more.
Little Caesars
Hinesville pizza lovers have one more place to grab their favorite dish. Little Caesars announced the opening of its newest restaurant in Hinesville, located at 1429 E. Oglethorpe Highway. The new location officially opened its doors on May 4, and will serve guests Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., with extended hours until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
Wayback Burgers
One of the nations fastest growing burger franchises, Wayback Burger, plans to open a new restaurant at 1374 S. Highway 21, in Springfield, about 40 minutes north of Savannah. The new location is projected to add 30 new jobs and open in Fall 2026, according to a press release.
Mellow Mushroom
The Atlanta-based, stone-baked pizza joint with 160+ locations nationwide is expanding its menu with new salads and a refreshed beverage program. Its the largest menu update ever and the new rollout became available across all locations starting April 28.
Throughout the month of May, Mellow Mushroom will offer free chicken on any regular salad – available both online and in-store across all locations, according to a press release. Salad options include a new spin on classic salads like Ceasar, Greek, Cobb and House, as well as an Asian Crunch and Apple Harvest salad. The new cocktail menu introduces a Moondust Margarita, Spicy Mango Margarito, Peachy Pineapple Spritz, a Watermelon Zinger and more.
Dunkin'
Dunkin’ launched its newest menu at the end of April, including new beverages like a Cherry Refresher and Limeade, as well as Dunkin’s take on Dirty Soda, Coffee Chillers, and a limited-time Dunkin’ x OREO® cookie beverage lineup. The menu also includes new bakery items like a Fruit Punch Donut and MUNCHKIN.
