Pigeon Pit, which hails from Olympia, Washington, will be the headliner at Stoopfest, a music, comedy and arts festival that takes place throughout Lansing's Eastside neighborhood on May 8-9.

Lansing's StoopFest is more than just an event. It's a way to bring the community together to celebrate music, art and each other.

StoopFest is an annual not-for-profit DIY festival that takes place throughout Lansing's Eastside Neighborhood. It's back on Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9.

See It Now: StoopFest in Lansing's Eastside Neighborhood

The first-ever StoopFest took place on April 23, 2016, with nearly 100 performances from musicians in a variety of genres, from folk to hip-hop, as well as comedy. Since then, the event has blossomed into one of the highlights of the spring season in mid-Michigan with bigger acts, additional venues and expanding crowds. The event takes place in the Eastside neighborhood and also has performances at The Green Door and The Avenue.

Today, acts playing StoopFest hail from all over. Head to the event's official website at Stoopfest.org to see the full tally.

Saturday's headliner is Pigeon Pit, which is touring in support of its new album, "Leash Aggression."

Pigeon Pit comes out of Olympia, Washington, which makes sense the second you hear them. There's that Pacific Northwest ache baked in. Fronted by Lomes Oleander, the band leans into folk-punk in a way that feels lived-in, raw and authentic. Nothing about it is polished, and that's exactly why it works.

Their songs hit you like journal entries you weren't meant to read but do. It's complicated and oddly comforting, the sound of figuring things out in real time with no filter.
