Sherri Shepherd isn't letting a little thing like the end of her talk show keep her down.
The beloved host announced her next career move just weeks after her daytime talk show, Sherri, was canceled.
"Sometimes you have to sit and be still…" Shepherd captioned her Instagram announcement on Friday, March 6. "Excited to announce that I will be starring in the [Lifetime] original movie, Angel in the Rubble, the fourth project under the Robin Roberts Presents banner."
The film, which is based on the bestselling book Angel in the Rubble: The Miraculous Rescue of 9/11’s Last Survivor, is executive produced by Robin Roberts via her Rock’n Robin Productions. Shepherd will also be executive producing.
According to Deadline, Angel in the Rubble "recounts the extraordinary survival of Genelle Guzman (Sherri Shepherd), a NYC transit worker who was buried beneath the collapse of Tower One on 9/11 and trapped for 27 harrowing hours. As she fought to stay alive, Genelle reflected on her life and the faith she had left behind, praying for deliverance and promising to change if given another chance."

Shepherd's casting announcement comes one month after Lionsgate confirmed that her daytime talk show would be coming to an end after its current season.
"This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production – which has found strong creative momentum this season – or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd," the company said in a statement to People on February 3. "We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms."
Shepherd later said she was "disappointed" by the news.
"I’m thankful that I got to live a dream for four years," she said during a February appearance on TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle. "How many people can say that they got to live a dream with great ratings? Where you got to have a platform that made a difference?"
