Prince William experienced an "I told you so" moment following Prince Harry's return to the UK, according to sources.

Harry, accompanied by his wife Meghan Markle and children Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lillibet, five, moved back from California at the end of August.

The Sussexes' unexpected return, after living in the US since 2020 following their step down as senior working royals, has generated extensive media attention. Prince William has maintained a tense relationship with his brother in recent years. Sources indicate the future King harbored concerns that Harry and Meghan's UK return might resurrect past tensions. It comes as Harry sent a "clear" message to the Royal Family.

A source told Us magazine, "There was cautious optimism that perhaps they would arrive in silent dignity and not stir up drama, but William was much less optimistic than the King and was proven right because right now he's having an 'I told you so' moment."

The insider claimed William has not spoken to Harry, adding, "William also hasn't gotten over all the stress that Harry and Meghan caused leading up to Kate's cancer diagnosis."

They added, "She finally reached remission, only for them to come back to the UK and create more stress for everyone." On Monday, the King reiterated that the Sussexes remain private citizens despite their return.

The correspondence from royal aide Lord Benyon, whose department handles the King's ceremonial and public engagements, clarified that the Duke and Duchess no longer utilize their HRH titles and any operational security matters concerning them should be directed to the appropriate police authorities.

It is understood that Harry and Meghan were taken aback by the correspondence. The information was reportedly transmitted to the couple's representatives approximately an hour before being disclosed to the press.

Harry and Meghan are "happy to be back" in the UK, according to reports. It is reported that getting Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet settled "remains their focus." Both have started the new school year in Britain.

In late August, the Duke, 41, and Duchess of Sussex, 45, relocated back to the U.K. with their two children. Just days later, on September 7, as the family was reportedly settling in the Cotswolds, near London, King Charles issued a letter confirming that the couple would remain non-working royals.
