Patrick Reed has been added to the field for the Irish Open as the wait goes on for him to confirm his PGA Tour return.
The former LIV Golf star is eligible to play on the PGA Tour again after the conclusion of the Tour Championship later this month, but the 2018 Masters champion has yet to confirm when he will play again in the U.S.
Reed was hit with a 12-month suspension by the tour after quitting LIV in January. The punishment was backdated to the last LIV event he played, the Team Championship in late August last year, meaning he is eligible to play in the PGA Tour's fall schedule. But Reed has made no secret that he is prioritizing the DP World Tour for the rest of this year.

The 36-year-old has competed on the European circuit since turning his back on LIV, and he is on course to earn a full PGA Tour membership for 2027. Reed leads the Race To Dubai rankings after two victories, with the top-10 players not already exempt earning PGA Tour cards.
His schedule will include the Irish Open at Trump International Doonbeg, which begins on Sep. 10, after he was among four players added to the field on Wednesday.

Bob MacIntyre, Sepp Straka, and Francesco Molinari will all tee it up in County Clare, joining a star-studded field headlined by home favorites Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry.

Reed also has his heart set on playing the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth the following week, which clashes with the Biltmore Championship Asheville, the first PGA Tour event being played after his suspension expires, and he will compete in the DP World Tour's playoffs.
"I'm really looking forward to returning to the Amgen Irish Open and playing at Doonbeg for the first time. Ireland has such a rich golfing history and the fans always create an incredible atmosphere," Reed said in a press release.
Reed explained his decision to prioritize the DP World Tour over the PGA Tour in an interview with The Mirror last month.
"I'm not going to miss Wentworth," he said. "There's the Irish Open and the big events like that. Those are events that I'm still going to want to play and still play and be a part of.
"It's just going to be sitting down with the team and trying to figure out what the plan of action is.
"At the end of the day, you go out and play well to finish off the year here on the DP World Tour, finish No. 1 in those standings, and everything takes care of itself."
A tantalizing finish to the DP World Tour season is on the cards with Reed holding a narrow lead over longtime rival McIlroy, with former LIV star Eugenio Chacarra also in the hunt for the order of merit crown.
