A screenshot from a video of her being interviewed by SFGATE on the red carpet at the 2026 San Francisco International Film Festival went viral, with people flooding the comments over what they described as her seemingly gaunt appearance.

In a video response posted to Instagram, Wilde’s brother Charles Cockburn kicked things off with the question we didn’t know we needed: “Olivia Wilde, do you care to address recent rumors that you’re a resurrected corpse?”

The video also featured a side-by-side comparison of a photo of Olivia from the now-viral interview — where she was wearing a drop-waist black skirt and white T-shirt — placed next to a still of Gollum from The Lord of the Rings.

Wilde’s response? Equal parts deadpan and delightful.

“Listen, that is a fisheye lens,” she explained of her altered appearance. “And I admit, is that my best angle? Was that my best ever look? No, it’s a startling image. I don’t know why I was so close to the camera,” she continued with a giggle. “I didn’t have to be. That’s not the truth.”

And then, the mic drop moment — the 42-year-old quipped simply: “I’m not dead.”

She also couldn’t resist calling out her brother for the ruthless questioning. Writing onscreen, she noted, “Leave it to your little brother to give you the maximum amount of s–t.”

For context, Wilde had been at the 2026 SFFILM Festival in San Francisco on April 24, where she was being questioned about her upcoming film, The Invite. Instead of sparking a conversation about the film, the interview became a hub for online debate about her health.

A TikTok video posted by SFGate of its conversation with the actress and director became a flashpoint, with some users speculating that she was taking a GLP-1 drug such as Ozempic or Mounjaro.

Social media users tossed around the now-ubiquitous term “Ozempic face” to describe the rapid facial-volume loss tied to semaglutide-based drugs. Others were more measured, pointing to camera angles and lighting as likely culprits — which, given Wilde’s own explanation, appears to have been the more accurate read.

Some users questioned her appearance, while others said the images may be influenced by lighting, styling, or camera angles.

There’s also a tabloid layer to all this. The renewed scrutiny over Wilde’s appearance came right around the time her ex Harry Styles was reportedly engaged to Zoë Kravitz after just eight months of dating. Some commenters wasted no time connecting the two, though Wilde’s response made zero mention of any of that noise.

What she did acknowledge was the lens — and her own proximity to it.

Wilde’s viral moment comes just days after she made headlines for an entirely different reason — a friendly reunion with her ex Jason Sudeikis. She and the Ted Lasso star, who share son Otis, 12, and daughter Daisy, 9, were spotted sharing a hug in Los Angeles on April 27, appearing to be in good spirits.
