Netflix dropped the emotional new trailer for "The One About Matthew Perry," offering an intimate look at the man behind the beloved star.

The teaser clip dropped Sept. 29 and addresses the devastating depths of the addiction he battled behind closed doors. It opens with a photo and video montage of Perry's many acting roles, along with footage of him discussing his dreams of making people laugh while struggling with his inner demons.

"I was extremely happy when I got famous," Perry said in an interview.

"Then I was like, 'Uh-oh, this didn't fix what's inside me. This didn't do what I thought it was gonna do."

A recording of Perry's voice from a previous conversation played as images of his acting career flashed across the scene. He recalled his perspective before rising to superstardom as Chandler Bing on "Friends."

"I said God, you can do anything you want to me, just please — make me famous."

"But God did not forget about the other part," Perry said.

Perry's sister, Mia Perry Bowick, spoke on camera about the late star for the first time since his death.

"My brother would talk about that feeling of emptiness or loneliness that he couldn't quite fill," she said.

"He spent $7 million trying to get sober — that's how seriously he took his disease."

Perry's voice was heard again as the actor described the weight of his addiction.

"I had people telling me to stop, saying, 'You're going to kill yourself if you keep going like this ... and I just didn't know how."

The actor's longtime friends Roger Castillo and David Pressman participated in the film, as did some of his pals from "The Whole Nine Yards" and "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip."

Two people Perry befriended in rehab appear in the film, including Terry Harrington, his roommate in the early 2000s, who says Perry had a profound, life-changing impact on him — and ultimately credits the actor with saving his life.

His pals spoke of how Perry would want to be remembered.

The documentary pays tribute to Perry's unforgettable role on "Friends," using the introductory lines "The One About Laughter" and "The One About A Friend" as a nod to the show's signature episode titles.

None of his colleagues from the hit sitcom participated in the documentary.

"The One About Matthew Perry" is slated for release Oct. 27 — one day before the third anniversary of his tragic death.
