Furthermore, they highlighted that the Sussexes are “internationally recognized” and have been involved in various “public charitable work.” It was said that Markle and Harry believe the “description of their status” in the letter was “misleading.” They allegedly blamed the king’s wording, which emphasized “private citizens.”

Although the monarch might mean that the couple would remain non-working royals, the wording was said to be incorrect. “The point they are examining is whether describing them in official correspondence as effectively private citizens accurately reflects their position as public figures,” the insider said.
