Madeleine White is responding after revealing she had received comments from people telling her they were unfollowing her for posting about her pregnancy

White announced that she was pregnant with her first baby with husband Andrew Fedyk in a Jan. 17 Instagram video

The influencer's video comes after discourse began circulating online when some TikTok users came out and said they were unfollowing creators for posting about pregnancy content

Madeleine White Fedyk is sharing how she feels after receiving comments from users saying they were unfollowing her for being pregnant. On Feb. 28, the influencer posted a TikTok video of herself dancing, including text over the video which read, "Dancing so I don't cry reading my comments/mentions of people telling me they're unfollowing me for being pregnant."In the caption of the post, Madeleine, who announced she was pregnant with her first child with husband Andrew Fedyk on Jan. 17, followed up, writing, "Welp I can’t peel the belly off now 🫠 anyways I’m gonna take a break for a lil until I feel better 🫶🏻❤️."Madeleine's video comes after discourse bubbled up online and on social media platforms about people who say they unfollow creators they previously followed once they become pregnant.

One user, @fridafridayyyy made a video breaking down the controversy, which supposedly began with another user who made a video saying that she unfollowed creators who get pregnant, married or engaged. The original video that most online have been referencing was posted by user @shanrileyyy, but has since been taken down.@fridafridayyyy also pointed out that fitness influencer Whitney Simmons, who recently announced her pregnancy, had been receiving similar treatment to Madeleine, with people unfollowing her because she was pregnant as well.Other users online expressed an array of opinions about the decision to unfollow women who were pregnant, engaged or married, with some saying it was fine to unfollow influencers whose content no longer resonated with them.

In the comments of her Feb. 28 post, however, commenters expressed their support for Madeleine and her content. One user took a hard stance, writing, "Unfollowing a woman just for being pregnant is so anti-women but y'all don’t want to have that conversation."Madeleine liked the comment of another creator who weighed in, writing that they thought it was "totally ok to unfollow people whose content doesn’t resonate with you anymore, just as it’s more than ok for your content to change as your life changes," before adding what they didn't think was OK, was people "announcing [they were unfollowing her], trying to make you feel bad."Another pointed out that Madeleine wanting to be a mother was nothing new for her content, writing that she thought Madeleine had been "very open" about wanting to be a mom."I’ve followed you for a while and you mentioned it every now and then," the commenter added. In fact, Madeleine even addressed some of the comments she had been getting a few weeks earlier, in a video on her second account @poutinesmom, explaining why she had been taking a pause from some of her regular fashion content.

"I see the complaints in my comment section saying we didn't want baby content, we want fashion content," she said. "And you know I don't disagree. I would love to be making fashion content with for you right now.""But you wanna know what my main problem is? I can't find s--- about f--- to buy. I can't find s--- about f--- to buy to recreate," the influencer, who often makes videos recreating iconic outfits herself, said."The fashion industry? Stale as the bread that was hidden in the back of my cabinet. I can't find anything. Please if you see anything cool or interesting that I haven't already made or tried on 100 times before, you let me know in the comments."Madeleine has also incorporated her baby content into her fashion content, taking users along with her as she made her first dress for her baby in a recent video — a girl — with her sewing machine."I don't think it's an exaggeration when I say I have waited my whole life for this moment," Madeleine said as she began taking out her sewing materials.
