Kid Cudi fires M.I.A. from the tour after her ā€œrepublicanā€ rant gained traction amongst fans. On Monday, May 4, Mescudi announced he was removing her from his tour. It was after fans complained she had ranted about politics and her immigration-related remarks on stage. Notably, M.I.A. defended her comments on social media. She explained she had always been vocal about her stance.

The 42-year-old wrote on his Instagram stories, ā€œTOUR UPDATE: M.I.A is no longer on this tour. I told my management to send a notice to her team before we started the tour that I didn’t want anything offensive at my shows. I already knew what time it was, and I was assured things were understood.ā€

The ā€œBetter Placeā€ hitmaker continued, ā€œAfter the last couple of shows, I’ve been flooded with messages from fans that were upset by her rants. This, to me, is very disappointing, and I won’t have someone on my tour making offensive remarks that upset my fanbase. Thank you for understanding. Rager.ā€

For those unversed, at the May 2 show, which was held in Dallas, M.I.A. was booed by attendees for her sharp political comments. As per fan footage from TikTok, Arulpragasam (real name) remarked, ā€œI can’t do ā€˜Illygirl’ though some of you could be in the audience.ā€ Also, she was referring to the 2010 track from her Maya album. It includes the line ā€œI’m illegal, f**k your law.ā€

After being booed, the 50-year-old singer replied, ā€œAlright, I’m illegal. Half of my team are not here because they didn’t get the visa. I want you to know that.ā€ According to Consequence of Sound, Arulpragasam revealed she ā€œnever thoughtā€ she would be ā€œcanceled for being a brown Republican voter.ā€ She also retorted on her X account in a lengthy statement in capital letters. Plus, she requested fans to ā€œnot gaslightā€ her words.
