Kid Cudi fires M.I.A. from the tour after her ārepublicanā rant gained traction amongst fans. On Monday, May 4, Mescudi announced he was removing her from his tour. It was after fans complained she had ranted about politics and her immigration-related remarks on stage. Notably, M.I.A. defended her comments on social media. She explained she had always been vocal about her stance.

Kid Cudi fired M.I.A. from the tour following her āoffensiveā remarks about politics and her immigration status on stage (via PEOPLE). The 42-year-old wrote on his Instagram stories, āTOUR UPDATE: M.I.A is no longer on this tour. I told my management to send a notice to her team before we started the tour that I didnāt want anything offensive at my shows. I already knew what time it was, and I was assured things were understood.ā
The āBetter Placeā hitmaker continued, āAfter the last couple of shows, Iāve been flooded with messages from fans that were upset by her rants. This, to me, is very disappointing, and I wonāt have someone on my tour making offensive remarks that upset my fanbase. Thank you for understanding. Rager.ā

For those unversed, at the May 2 show, which was held in Dallas, M.I.A. was booed by attendees for her sharp political comments. As per fan footage from TikTok, Arulpragasam (real name) remarked, āI canāt do āIllygirlā though some of you could be in the audience.ā Also, she was referring to the 2010 track from her Maya album. It includes the line āIām illegal, f**k your law.ā
After being booed, the 50-year-old singer replied, āAlright, Iām illegal. Half of my team are not here because they didnāt get the visa. I want you to know that.ā According to Consequence of Sound, Arulpragasam revealed she ānever thoughtā she would be ācanceled for being a brown Republican voter.ā She also retorted on her X account in a lengthy statement in capital letters. Plus, she requested fans to ānot gaslightā her words.
