Kelly Ripa called out a peculiar bodily happening on Live With Kelly and Mark.
The daytime TV icon said she's experienced a "clapping sound" in her thighs in her fifties.
"That's where I really notice it, the friction of the upper thigh," Ripa told her audience.
Kelly Ripa is used to the in-studio applause on Live With Kelly and Mark each morning, but, as the daytime TV icon just revealed, she also regularly experiences a daily clapping sound of a different kind.
Minutes into Monday's broadcast of the long-running talk show, Ripa, 55, revealed that she has a profane shirt that she loves to wear on select occasions, though she admitted she couldn't reveal what the shirt says because they'd be "pulled off the air" as a result. She transitioned the topic into another, as she admitted that "there is something" else bothering her.
"I don't know if there are women over 50 in the audience?" Ripa said, looking out into the crowd and acknowledging a few ladies who replied to her inquiry. "Oh my gosh, so many of us! There is something that happens once you go over 50, that happens to our upper thighs that didn't happen before. It's like a clapping sound every time you sit down. Do you know what I'm talking about?"

She acknowledged the others in the audience who appeared to agree with her, savoring the fact that she isn't the only woman in the room who experienced this phenomenon.
Ripa then turned to her husband and cohost, Mark Consuelos, who downplayed the thigh-based experience.
"You say you hear it, but I haven't really heard it. It doesn't sound like a clapping sound," Consuelos, also 55, told his spouse.

"A thunderous applause?" Ripa jokingly asked. "It's a sound, because he was talking about the friction, and that's where I really notice it, the friction of the upper thigh. That's... yeah. It's not just me."
The couple then moved on to other talking points, though Ripa later brought it up again when one of the aforementioned audience members disagreed with her on whether or not carbonated beverages taste better in a can or not.
"No? You disagree? No, you're wrong. Lady, you're wrong. Sorry," Ripa said, looking out toward the woman in the audience. "I thought we were friends when our thighs clapped together, and now we've broken up."

Ripa has long spoken about her personal life from her post on Live, including an April admission that her nightly retainer functions as a "chastity belt" when Consuelos wants to have sex.
