Katie Lee Biegel shared a negative encounter with Chevy Chase during a star-studded keg party with her ex-husband Billy Joel

Chase mistook Biegel for party staff and shooed her away when she offered him a jello shot, she said

Katie Lee Biegel is opening up about celebrity encounters — including one from a star who she said was “not so nice.”

In a recent episode of her podcast Katie Lee Kitchen, Biegel, 44, recounted the incident, which took place during her marriage to Billy Joel (she and the music legend met in 2002 and married in 2004, ultimately divorcing in 2009).

“My celebrity run-in that was not-so-nice was Chevy Chase,” Biegel said.

“So, I was having a party with my ex-husband. It was a keg party,” Biegel, who has been married to TV producer Ryan Biegel since 2018, shared. “I wanted to have like an old-school keg party. We had a house that we were going to tear down. And it was like this little — we called it ‘The Sugar Shack,’ and had a very fun summer there, staying with friends.”

She continued: “But then at the end of the summer, we decided to have a kind of like, ‘Tear-the-House-Down party, a keg party, and I had jello shots, kegs. It was a very star-studded party.”

“And my ex-husband was standing talking to Chevy Chase and his wife. And I had a tray of jello shots,” she recalled. “And I went up with the tray of jello shots and said, you know, ‘Do you guys want a shot?’ and Chevy thought that I was the staff at the party and he took his hand and shooed me away. He just did this [making a shoo-ing motion].”

Chase has been the subject of many reports regarding his behavior on sets, and has recently spoken out about his time on and exit from the sitcom Community.

Various reportsclaimed that Chase had a “full meltdown” on set after allegedly using the N-word, which allegedly led to his firing during season four.

Speaking to The New York Times, Chase said of the show, “It wasn’t a bad experience. I just didn’t think it was that good, the show.”

Of his time on the show ending, he added, “I thought it ended great,” and, “It was too great a misunderstanding of what I was saying and not saying. I thought that there was at least one person — and another who, for some ungodly reason, didn’t get me, didn’t know who I was, or didn’t realize for one second I’m not racist. They were too young to be aware of my work. Instead, there was some sort of visceral reaction from them.”
