Jimmy Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney, appeared on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, where they discussed how their children are trying to understand the public feud between Kimmel and Trump.
During the conversation, the couple recalled having to explain why helicopters were near their home while their children were at school. They were unsure whether the kids had already heard about the situation because it had received widespread attention.
McNearney said, “So we said the show has been cancelled for a little bit. And Jane said, Is this Donald Trump’s fault? And we said yes.”
She added, “This is what a wild childhood for these kids to know that the president of United States doesn’t like their father. I mean, that’s not a great feeling, but it’s also kind of funny.”

Kimmel said, “I don’t know if they understand that he’s not like a movie villain or a TV, you know, in a way he is. He’s like a cartoon character.”
He also said their children compare Trump to “Dr. Evil” and view him as a villain. According to TMZ, Kimmel and Trump have remained at odds amid the president’s repeated criticism of the late-night host.
The dispute also expanded after Disney sued the Federal Communications Commission over its review of a local broadcast license following Kimmel’s comments about Trump.
Kimmel and Trump have publicly traded criticism for years. His latest comments show that the feud has now become something his children are also aware of.
