Jamie Lee Curtis revealed she’s “much closer” to Jake and Romy Reiner after their parents’ passings last year.
The Oscar winner — who was friends with Rob and Michele Reiner for decades — discussed her strong bond with the two siblings recently, and shared how the devastating tragedy brought them together.

“Of course, I mean, we are family,” Curtis, 67, said of Jake, 35, and Romy, 28, in a chat with Extra. “Something like this brings people so much closer. Like Jake and I were sitting shoulder-to-shoulder doing an interview… and just feeling him there is emotional, and then of course him talking about his parents and their fantastic relationship.”
The Freaky Friday alum added: “There hasn’t been a big public memorial yet, and so we’re all grieving.”

Michele and Rob were found dead in their Brentwood, Calif., home in December 2025, and their other son, Nick Reiner, was arrested shortly after the slayings.
Nick, 33, is currently being held without bail at the Los Angeles County Twin Towers Correctional Facility and pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder. Nick was placed in solitary confinement earlier this year, and his charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole.

During the Emmy Awards back in September, Curtis took the stage to present a heartfelt tribute to the Princess Bride filmmaker’s life and legacy.

She called Rob “a cherished legend” and her “beloved Meathead,” referring to his role in the 1970s sitcom All in the Family.
The Knives Out star also reflected her awards show speech and her lifelong relationship with the Reiners, telling The Hollywood Reporter last month: “I felt a responsibility to represent everyone — strangers, fans, colleagues, friends, close friends and family — in that moment at the Emmys. I was happy to do it, but it was a little tougher than I anticipated.”

“I’m obviously a close friend of theirs; we got married at Rob’s house on December 18, 1984,” she recalled of her nuptials with husband Christopher Guest.
“Rob was the best man. My late sister Kelly was my maid of honor. So we are close. Rob is our daughter Annie’s godfather. When Michele married Rob, she and Rob became my daughter’s godparents,” Curtis explained.
