As Noah Wyle can attest to, working in an emergency room can contain, well, a certain amount of mess. And we're not just talking about the blood, gore and viscera that is typical with saving people's lives on a daily basis. With medical shows, romance tends to eventually be in the air. And The Pitt, evidently, seems no different. In Season 1 of the Emmy-winning drama, some past chemistry was hinted at between Dr. Robby (Wyle) and Dr. Collins (Tracy Ifeachor), which was eventually revealed during a rather emotional moment between the two. In hindsight, it wound up being one of Collins's final scenes in the series, as Ifeachor did not return for Season 2. And in the time jump to the Fourth of July, a lot has changed — including, seemingly, Robby's love life. Here's what to know about Dr. Robby's possible love interest in The Pitt Season 2.

Who is Robby's love interest in The Pitt Season 2?

The first hint we get of a love interest for Robby comes in Episode 2 of Season 2 with the arrival of a new character, Noelle Hastings (Meta Golding). The new case manager interrupts a conversation between him and McKay (Fiona Dourif), as the two share a look while providing each other with nicknames. Hastings explains that McKay's patient will be transferred to another hospital to avoid the ever-present problem of overcrowding in the hospital. With prompting, Robby agrees with the decision, assuring he'll get great care outside of the Pitt. McKay, seeing the uncharacteristic tone in her boss (who usually greatly approves of the headaches of hospital bureaucracy), outright asks, "What am I missing?" Hastings insists it's "just a simple insurance transfer." McKay replies half-heartedly before walking away, clearly picking up on something brewing between the two.

Who is Hastings on The Pitt?

Noelle Hastings is the new case manager for the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. Case managers are chiefly responsible for developing care and treatment plans for patients, as well as coordinating services to make sure they receive the best possible care in and out of the hospital. The character is brand-new for the series, having assumingly come on in the months between Seasons 1 and 2.

Who plays Hastings on The Pitt?

Hastings is played by actress Meta Golding. She is most well-known for her leading role alongside Kiefer Sutherland in the Paramount+ drama Rabbit Hole. Her other credits include District 2 tribute Enobaria in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, and a run as Teri on Empire.

Were Robby and Collins together on The Pitt?

They were! After plenty of suppositions from the fans, Robby and Collins confirmed they used to be in a relationship in a scene towards the end of Season 1. Sitting together in the back of an ambulance, she reveals that she suffered a miscarriage over the course of the day. Additionally, he had gotten her pregnant back when they were together, and she had chosen to get an abortion. Robby processes the news, then tells Collins to go home, relax, and turn off her phone. While looking out for a co-worker, it was a costly error, as Collins was missing from the rest of the day's action, including the massacre that came from the PittFest shooting."She's the one that got away in some ways," Wyle said about Collins in a recent interview with People. "He could not have given her what she wanted. She was a rockstar on an ascension that he would only have been an impediment towards. And if she's found happiness, God bless."
