Colin Jost defended his position in marriage to Scarlett Johansson following a funny joke by co-host Michael Che during Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update. Che cracked a joke about a husband-carrying contest, remarking that Johansson would be the winner of it. This is not the first time that Johansson has been the target of a roast during the sketch comedy show; it has happened several times before.

In a recent episode of Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update, Che made a joke in front of Jost about Johansson “carrying” the marriage. Referring to a competitive sport, he said, “The winners of the annual wife-carrying contest in England were a couple from Finland.” He further poked fun at Jost-Johansson’s marriage, adding that “while, once again, the winner of the husband-carrying contest was Scarlett.” His joke sparked laughter from both the audience and his co-host Jost, who waited for the crowd to settle down before defending himself. “We both put food on the table. They’re different kinds of food,” he said in his support.

Earlier, during her appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the ‘Black Widow’ star opened up on how “terrified” she becomes when Che and Jost continue their ritual of SNL joke swap. She revealed that the duo doesn’t even bother to look at each other’s offensive jokes before giving a read on-air. “We need to go into witness protection after that night. Like, I am absolutely terrified we’re gonna be targeted. It’s so bad. I black out for that period of the night. I actually don’t remember it,” she said about her reaction to the segment (via The Hollywood Reporter).
