Multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE earlier this month that Alix Earle and Braxton Berrios had recently split

Berrios was absent from live tapings of DWTS, where Earle competed for the Mirrorball Trophy, but showed his support from a distance

The football star defended missing the shows in a series of Instagram comments

Braxton Berrios is clearing the air.

Days after multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that the NFL player, 30, and Alix Earle, 24, had broken up, Berrios defended himself on Instagram for not attending any of her Dancing with the Stars performances.

On Thursday, Dec. 11, the Houston Texans player posted multiple photos of his game day fits, with the caption, "What did I miss?"

While some fans pointed out that the caption could be a reference to the Drake song "What Did I Miss?", others took it as an opportunity to tell him what he missed — literally.

"Every single performance of alixs," one fan wrote, referring to his ex-girlfriend's run on season 34 of Dancing with the Stars.

The social media influencer, who was partnered with Val Chmerkovskiy, ended the season securing the number two spot. Robert Irwin and Witney Carson were crowned champions on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Being that the season aired during the NFL season, Berriors replied to the fan: "I would've been at every one if I could've, sadly I can't travel like that in season."

After another fan posted a similar comment, writing, "Every single one of Alix's shows..." Berrios replied, "I would've loved to be. Sadly I wasn't able to travel like that in-season."

As fans recall, Earle planned a surprise 30th birthday party for Berrios in Los Angeles during his bye week. The football star turned 30 on Oct. 6 and made sure to mention his trip to California to another fan who said he missed a "first class ticket to LA during the Biweek."

"That's exactly where I went for bye week!" he wrote.

Shortly after Berriors made his post, Earle made a post of her own on Instagram filled with pictures from the past couple of days.

"Can’t a girl just go dancing," she wrote. The post included snaps of her clubbing, hanging out with friends, and wearing sexy outfits.

In her comment section, fans pointed out the timing of the two posts.

"I hope your with each other posting next to one another laughing," another person shared.

During season 34 of Dancing with the Stars, Berrios would periodically show that he was watching Earle's performances by posting photos of the broadcast on his Instagram Stories. He also sent her a video message during the finale week.

In September, Earle exclusively told PEOPLE that Berrios would miss her shows because "he's stuck in football world right now, so unfortunately he won't be able to come."

Sources told PEOPLE on Dec. 5 that the two had broken up after two years together, adding that the split was "mutual."
