Mark Ockerbloom, a veteran news anchor at WFXT-TV (Boston 25), is leaving the station after more than two decades.
The Massachusetts native, affectionately known by viewers as "Ock," said he will be spending more time with his family following a 40-year career in broadcast journalism.
"As a kid who grew up in Winchester, it was the thrill of a lifetime to get to work in my home market," Ockerbloom said in a statement. "I want to thank all of the talented people I’ve had the privilege of working with day in and day out. I’d also like to acknowledge and thank my many viewers who always trusted me to bring them accurate information."
Ockerbloom joined WFXT-TV, Boston's Fox affiliate, in 2004 as a weekend news anchor and reporter. He now anchors the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 10 p.m., and 11 p.m. news shows.
During his time at the station, Ockerbloom has covered a slew of significant New England news stories, including the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, Whitey Bulger's capture, and several sports championships, according to Boston 25.
