Bobby Cannavale shared a rare photo of his two young sons while celebrating his 56th birthday in 2026

While celebrating a special milestone, Bobby Cannavale gave a rare glimpse into his life as a dad.
On Sunday, May 3, the Ant-Man actor turned 56. The following day, he marked the occasion on Instagram with a snap of his three sons, including his two youngest: sons Rocco, 10, and Rafa, 8, whom he shares with longtime partner Rose Byrne. He also shares his son Jake, 31, with his ex-wife, Jenny Lumet.
“What a life! 56 today, can't believe it,” Cannavale wrote alongside a snap of himself blowing out his birthday candles with the help of all three of his sons. The foursome all wore similar expressions as they attempted to blow out the smattering of candles on the actor's baseball-themed cake.
His caption continued with a nod to his experience as a father to his sons. “What an honor to be Dad to these 3,” Cannavale finished alongside the photo. “Thanks for all the birthday wishes, people. Xx.”

The actor's comments were flooded with birthday wishes from celebrity pals, including Jack Quaid, Minnie Driver, Melanie Lynskey, Glenn Close, Octavia Spencer and more.
Cannavale and Byrne, 46, who have been together since meeting through mutual friends in 2012, do not often share pictures of their young sons, or appear with them at public events.
The Station Agent actor has, however, posted the occasional snap, like a 2020 mirror selfie that features Rocco and Rafa — from behind — dressed up as Toy Story characters. “Buzz and Woody visited today,” he wrote on Instagram.

Though they weren't pictured in the photo, he also shared a snap of himself and Byrne on a family outing with “our boys” at Universal Orlando Resort in 2025. “What an awesome day,” he wrote of the theme park day at the time.

Cannavale also celebrates Byrne for her role as a mother, as well as the roles she takes on as an actress.
In January 2026, he shared a photo of the pair on an emotional video call, seemingly when the actress became a first-time Oscar nominee for her leading role in If I Had Legs I'd Kick You. “Academy Award Nominee Best Actress Winner Best Mama, Friend, Human What a moment @fullyrosebyrne ❤️,” he wrote of his longtime partner at the time.

When Byrne won a Golden Globe during the ceremony for the same performance, she memorably thanked Cannavale while explaining that he was not at the ceremony because he was away getting one of their sons a pet.
"I want to thank my husband, Bobby Cannavale," she said. "He couldn't make it here because we're getting a bearded dragon, and he went to a reptile expo in New Jersey. So, thank you, baby."
