Blake Lively Undergoes Beauty Treatment in Attempt to Look Like She’s in the ‘First Trimester of Life’

Blake Lively is making it clear that beauty takes work.

The actress, 39, opened up about her beauty treatment attempt in text written over an unfiltered video of herself wearing a face mask and red light therapy gadget in a photo shared to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

“If I don’t look like I’m in the first trimester of life after this much effort, I quit,” Lively wrote in text added to a thought bubble graphic over the video selfie of herself on social media, backed to Fergie’s 2007 hit “Glamorous.”

In the close-up clip, the Gossip Girl actress’ face is completely covered except for her eyes, nose and lips poking through a white face mask. She takes a breath, seemingly trying to relax while remaining still.

In addition to the hydrating mask, Lively — who relaxed in a cozy, brown sherpa sweatshirt — is seen wearing a glowing gadget on her head from iRestore, an FDA-cleared red light therapy brand that makes devices for hair regrowth, body recovery, pain relief and skin health.

“Natural beauty is effortless,” she joked in a caption.

In another thought bubble, Lively got nostalgic about the days when beauty routines were simpler.

“I miss the 2000s when we just used that handsoap with fish characters on it on our face & called it a day,” she wrote.

Amid the treatments, the mom of four — who shares James, 11, Inez, 10, Betty, 7, and Olin, 3, with her husband, Ryan Reynolds — praised her children’s light-up decorations for providing peace as she tried to relax in the dark room.

“My kids star project that I stole is a vibe tho,” she wrote in the third and final thought bubble on her Instagram Story.

Lively is known for her beauty transparency on social media, often sharing tips and tricks in the space. In August, the actress gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at her go-to routine as a busy mom of four.

In a video shared to Instagram on Aug. 20, the Deadpool & Wolverine star is seen applying makeup and styling her hair before rushing out the door — and nearly forgetting to button her pants.

“The look: no time but need to look cute while ALSO raising children,” she wrote over the clip as she swipes on some eye makeup before taking down her hair, which is pulled back into a bun. “Moment of truth: bun out after running around the city,” the caption read.

She then used hairspray from her haircare line, Blake Brown, stating that she previously washed her hair with the brand’s Wild Nectar Santal Strengthening Shampoo and applied the Wild Nectar Santal Fundamental Nourishing Mask and All-in-Wonder Leave-In Potion.

Lively launched Blake Brown in 2024. At the time, she told PEOPLE that her goal was to create “clean formulas with incredible performance.”
