Princess Catherine has joined the royal family for the National Service of Remembrance every year since 2011, the same year that she got married to Prince William. The somber annual ceremony, held on Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph, a war memorial in London, honors service members who have lost their lives at war. It takes place on the second Sunday of November, and it involves a church service, a wreath-laying ceremony, and a formal procession, all of which are attended by various members of the British royal family.

When it comes to her royal style, the Princess of Wales has long embraced a more sustainable approach, frequently rewearing dresses, jewelry, and accessories. Over the years, that style philosophy has been on full display at Remembrance Sunday, where Kate has made a tradition of recycling looks and adding sentimental touches through meaningful brooches and heirloom jewelry.

One of her signature accessories is the red poppy pin, a symbol that has come to be widely associated with the holiday. Kate is often seen wearing three poppies at once, and while the royal family has never confirmed the significance behind the number, one theory suggests it may be a personal nod to her great-grandmother’s three brothers, all of whom lost their lives during World War I.

Throughout the years, Kate has also worn pieces that once belonged to late royal family members like Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana, which she has styled with outfits from Catherine Walker, Alexander McQueen, Temperley London, Diane von Furstenberg, and more.
